Palace moves on from Mackay
MALKY Mackay is out of the running to take over at Crystal Palace after a file reportedly alleging he had sent racist, sexist and homophobic text messages was passed to the Football Association by Cardiff owner Vincent Tan.
Mackay, who guided Cardiff to the Premier League after a 51-year wait, was sacked by Malaysian businessman Tan in December 2013, two months after his right-hand man Iain Moody, who then took over as Palace’s director of football, was dismissed by the Welsh club.
Palace said Moody had resigned yesterday. “In light of the events of yesterday, sporting director, Iain Moody has tendered his resignation and it has been accepted with immediate effect,” a Palace statement read.
Caretaker Palace boss Keith Millen will take charge of tomorrow’s home Premier League clash with West Ham.
