Porto coach quits after four-game winless run
FC Porto says coach Paulo Fonseca will leave his post after the club’s worst string of results in almost 10 years.
The Portuguese champion said in a statement to the Lisbon stock exchange that it has reached an agreement with Fonseca, with “B’’ team coach Luis Castro temporarily taking charge. The statement gave no further details. Porto last month recorded its first home league defeat in more than five years and is third in the league, nine points behind leader Benfica. Porto, the Portuguese champion eight times in the last 10 years, is on a run of four winless games in all competitions.
