Robben plays spoilsport in Bayern's rampant run

ARJEN Robben has admitted he is unhappy with his place on the bench as Bayern Munich prepared for Tuesday's trip to Arsenal by extending its Bundesliga unbeaten run to 18 matches with victory at VfL Wolfsburg.

Goals by Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic and Dutch star Robben on Friday sealed Bayern's 2-0 victory at Wolves as the Bavarians continue to send German league records tumbling.

But having lost his regular place on the right wing to Thomas Mueller, Robben is frustrated with his place amongst the reserves having played only the last 11 minutes against Wolves.

"I'm not happy, I want to play more," Robben told German Sky with just one start in the last four games.

"I hope I play on Tuesday against Arsenal, but I'm not hopeful.

"It's a big game and I see no reason why I shouldn't play."

With or without Robben in the starting line-up, Bayern is in great form ahead of Tuesday's Champions League last 16, first leg, trip to Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.

This was its 18th league win from 22 matches and it has yet to concede a goal in 2013.

Having leaked just seven league goals all season, and only one away from home, it has a massive goal difference of 50.

With second-placed Borussia Dortmund hosting Eintracht Frankfurt yesterday, Bayern took its chance to go 18 points clear in the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg produced some dogged defending before a spectacular overhead-kick from Mandzukic, his sixth goal in four league games, put Bayern ahead on 36 minutes, then Robben came off the bench to add a stoppage-time second.

"It was Wolfsburg's best game of the season, their players threw everything they had into it," said Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes, whose team is set to end its three-year wait for silverware in May.

"It was a very intense game played at a high pace and it was a tough one for us, but these are the games you have to win."

Bayern has an exceptional visiting record this season with 10 Bundesliga wins from 11 away from the Allianz Arena.

Meanwhile, there were fresh reports Pole Robert Lewandowski's transfer to Bayern in the summer from Dortmund will be announced after the team's German Cup quarterfinal on February 27 in Munich.
