Rod Stewart left in tears after surprising result

IT was such an unexpected result that even Rod Stewart burst into tears. The rock star was seen crying at Celtic Park after the Scottish champion beat mighty Barcelona on Wednesday.

Stewart is one Celtic's most devoted, and famous, supporters and makes mention of his love for the club in his hit song "You're in My Heart."

It was the club's greatest international success since it beat Inter Milan to lift the European Cup in Lisbon in 1967.

"This is mind-blowing, this is Celtic 2, Barcelona 0," a commentator exclaimed when teenager Tony Watt scored Celtic's second with seven minutes to play.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon, who played in the Celtic side that defeated Barcelona in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup in the 2003/2004 season, said the result was his greatest in management.

"I think it's one of the greatest nights in the club's recent history.

"It was very poignant on the club's 125th anniversary that we got to play Barcelona in such a prestigious game and then to win the game under huge difficulties was amazing," he said.
