SIPG fans gather to watch AFC Champions League away match

OVER a hundred Shanghai SIPG fans gathered at a restaurant near the Bund on Wednesday evening to watch the team’s last Asian Champions League group stage match against Western Sydney Wanderers.

At the club’s official monthly fan’s gathering, the team’s supporters celebrated SIPG’s entrance to the last-16 of this year’s Asian tournament.

With an increased number of fans who expressed interest to follow the team and cheer for them in away games out of Shanghai, the club announced that it reached cooperation with Chinese travel agency Tuniu, and would introduce special travel packages for fans in the future.

SIPG was edged 2-3 by Wanderers to place second in the group. Wu Lei and Elkeson scored for the visitors. Their first opponent in the knock-out stage will be another Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning.
