Saints’ Pelle for Shandong

ITALY striker Graziano Pelle has left Southampton to join Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng.
Southampton announced the transfer yesterday, saying Pelle has moved for an undisclosed fee. The 30-year-old Pelle was at Southampton for two seasons, scoring 30 goals in 81 games and gaining international recognition from Italy. He was Italy’s first-choice striker at the just-concluded European Championship. The Italian is a second big signing by the CSL club, languishing in the relegation zone, after former Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse of Senegal joined on Sunday in a 2.5-million pound (US$3.24 million) deal.
