SCHALKE 04 coach Felix Magath missed his team's training yesterday, fuelling speculation about his future the day after it reached the Champions League quarterfinals.
His assistants ran the session, only saying a comment would be made "in the coming days."
Magath denied reports before the game against Valencia on Wednesday that he was being forced out at the end of the season but club officials have yet to confirm or deny the reports.
Schalke, last season's Bundesliga runner-up, is struggling in 10th place, five points off the relegation playoff spot, with Magath the subject of fan protests.
His numerous signings, 40 in 18 months, have mostly failed to deliver, hurting the debt-ridden club.
Schalke is in German Cup final, boosting its chances of playing European football next season. At previous games Magath has been greeted by fans waving huge banners saying "Magath out". On Wednesday, they were chanting his name and wearing T-shirts reading "I like Felix Magath".
