Scots Apologize For Booing Of Anthem

THE Scottish Football Association says its reputation has been tarnished by fans booing the Liechtenstein national anthem during a 2012 European Championship qualifier.

SFA acting chief executive George Peat says he was "embarrassed and extremely disappointed by the disgraceful behavior" before Scotland's 2-1 win on Tuesday.

Peat says Scotland fans are known as "fun-loving and respectful followers of football," adding that "those who chose to boo our opponents' anthem only served to tarnish that reputation."

Mario Frick gave Liechtenstein a shock lead at the start of the second half, but Kenny Miller leveled in the 63rd minute and Stephen McManus headed in Scotland's winner in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
