Serie A roadshow
THE Italian Serie A held a promotional roadshow in Shanghai over the weekend to seek new partners for the league’s broadcasting rights from 2018 to 2021.
Serie A will introduce its new international media rights tender for the next four years at the end of this month. While previously the rights were sold by a global approach, this time they will be sold via a regional approach with continents, regions and individual territories able to take up the programming. Italian football and its clubs first approached Chinese fans about 40 years ago when Inter Milan became the first Italian club to visit China in 1978. According to the club, about half of its 320 million global fans are from Asia. The roadshow was previously held in New York and London before the final stopover in Shanghai.
