Sevilla ends long wait for home win
GOALS from Federico Fazio, Manu del Moral and Frederic Kanoute gave Sevilla a 3-0 win over Getafe on Monday for its first victory at home in four matches in the Spanish league.
Sevilla is now two points behind fourth-place Levante, which is in the last Champions League position.
Sevilla went in front in the 32nd minute when Fazio was left unmarked at the edge of the six-yard box to head in Ivan Ratikic's corner. Del Moral, who joined Sevilla from Getafe in the offseason, made it 2-0 in the 50th. Kanoute capped the win in stoppage time with a well-placed shot into the right corner of the net.
Getafe, which had won in its previous three league visits to Sanchez Pizjuan stadium, has yet to win away from home this season and is one point above the relegation zone.
In Italy, Lazio captain Tommaso Rocchi scored twice as the Roman club snapped a monthlong winless streak with a spirited 3-0 victory over newly promoted Novara in the Serie A.
Remaining in fourth place, Lazio moved within four points of Serie A leader Juventus and two points of AC Milan and Udinese.
Defender Giuseppe Biava put Lazio ahead with a header off a corner in the 16th minute at the mostly empty Stadio Olimpico.
Rocchi doubled the lead seven minutes later with another header following a freekick, then sealed the victory with a volley from the edge of the box in the 72nd.
Lazio had failed to score in its past three matches, a 0-0 draw with Napoli, a 0-1 loss to Juventus and a 0-0 draw with Romanian side Vaslui in the Europa League last week.
Lazio last won previously on November 6, beating Parma 1-0 to move level at the time with Udinese for the league lead.
Novara, playing in the top division for the first time in 55 years, remained third from the bottom in the relegation zone.
Miroslav Klose and Djibril Cisse also had chances for Lazio as the hosts dominated the entire match.
