Shenhua draws at Greentown

FRENCH striker Nicolas Anelka scored his second goal in China but it was not enough as Shanghai Shenhua was held 1-1 away to Hangzhou Greentown.

After last night's draw in neighboring Zhejiang Province, both Shenhua and Greentown have only one victory in five rounds of the Chinese Super League.

Shenhua's French coach Jean Tigana continued to use midfielder Yu Tao as a central defender with Dai Lin still not fully recovered from his brain injury two weeks ago.

Shenhua's other French striker Mathieu Manset was on the bench following criticism of his performance in the game against Guangzhou Evergrande last week.

Both the goals came in the first half, with Shanghai scoring in the ninth minute from a breakaway move. Joel Griffiths nicely stopped the ball in Greentown's box from a Mario Bozic pass and then laid it on to the on-rushing Anelka. The 33-year-old put the ball in the net with a sliding shot.

But Shenhua's exhilaration only lasted for a minute as Greentown's Brazilian striker Renatinho equalized with a chip over the Shenhua defense.

Shenhua had the ball in the net in the 70th minute when Jiang Kun scored with a header but it was disallowed for offside.

In other games, Shanghai Shenxin, Shenhua's derby rival, beat Dalian Aerbin 3-1 at home. Henan Jianye had a 2-1 comeback victory over visiting Changchun Yatai. Shandong Luneng finished 0-0 with Jiangsu Sainty. Liaoning Hongyun grabbed a 2-0 win over Qingdao Jonoon at home.

Liaoning leads the CSL table on goal difference from Guangzhou RNS and Guangzhou Evergrande, all of whom have nine points. Shanghai Shenxin is fifth on seven points.
