Shenzhen pays for messing up color

A CLASH of shirt colors has cost struggling Chinese Super League side Shenzhen Shangqingyin three points and 100,000 yuan (US$14,650) after it caused the delay of their home match against Shanghai Shenhua on August 30.

Both teams play in white away but Shenzhen got it wrong for its home fixture resulting in a nearly one hour kickoff delay as officials scoured the city before finding a batch of blue shirts. The Chinese Football Association doled out the punishment as well as excluding Shenzhen from this year's CSL Fair Play Award. Shenzhen can ill-afford the points loss, which leaves it in the relegation zone.
