Sun sets record with Tianjin move
MIDFIELDER Sun Ke set a new Chinese transfer record after completing his move from CSL Jiangsu Sainty to Tianjin Teda for 66 million yuan (US$10.63 million) yesterday.
Jiangsu confirmed the deal on its official Weibo account and thanked Sun for his contribution to the club.
With the CSL mid-season transfer window set to open on Monday, Sun would miss Tianjin’s clash against Beijing Guo’an tonight.
Tianjin is fifth in the standing with 19 points — seven less than joint leaders Shandong Luneng, Guangzhou Evergrande, Beijing Guo’an and Shanghai SIPG.
The 26-year-old Sun was given a contract till 2020 with an annual salary reported to be 8 million yuan. He scored three goals in two matches for China in the Asian Cup in January and has been in demand since then.
The previous record of 50 million yuan was held by Shanghai SIPG midfielder Yu Hai, another Chinese national player who moved from Guizhou Renhe to SIPG at the start of the season this year.
