Teams Face Possible Sanctions For Flaunting Rules
THE Asian Football Confederation says Qatar faces possible sanctions for refusing to bring a player to an Asian Cup news conference, joining Iraq and North Korea for flaunting the rules.
AFC Competitions Director Tokuaki Suzuki says that a complaint has been filed with the disciplinary committee regarding Qatar. He could not say what sanctions the teams would face and it was unclear why the team only sent a coach to speak to the media.
North Korea and Iraq had been earlier cited for the same violation while Saudi Arabia looks to be added to the list after it failed to send a player to its news conference.
