Tevez strikes to extend Juve lead

CARLOS Tevez scored a league-tying 16th goal of the campaign to secure a 1-0 win away to 10-man Catania and help restore Juventus’ 14-point lead at the top of Serie A on Sunday.

Roma had reduced the arrears to Antonio Conte’s pacesetters with a 2-0 win away to Chievo on Saturday when Torino striker Ciro Immobile had gone top of the scorers’ charts thanks to a hat-trick in a 3-1 win against Livorno.

Napoli, whose bid for the runners-up spot and the second automatic Champions League place suffered a setback in a 0-1 home defeat to Fiorentina.

Earlier, Atalanta striker Giacomo Bonaventura scored a brace in a 2-1 away win which pushed Inter Milan down to sixth, while Verona’s Europa League hopes were hurt by a 0-5 rout away to Sampdoria. Lazio welcomed an ailing AC Milan looking to creep closer to the Europa League places but dropped two precious points in a 1-1 draw.
