MANCHESTER United captain Nemanja Vidic has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a right knee injury. Vidic twisted his knee during the first half of Wednesday's Champions League loss to Swiss club FC Basel and was carried off on a stretcher. United manager Alex Ferguson said the defender will undergo surgery and will not play again this season. The defending Premier League champion trails Manchester City by five points ahead of this weekend's games.
