Sun, Ye make a splash at Qingdao nationals

CHINESE superstars Sun Yang and Ye Shiwen recorded easy victories in the men’s 400-meter freestyle and women’s 400 individual medley, respectively, at the National Swimming Championships in Qingdao, Shandong Province, yesterday.
Sun, the Olympic 400 and 1,500 freestyle champion, kept his lead from the start to clock 3 minutes, 45.12 seconds, 4.12 seconds ahead of Hao Yun. Wang Kecheng was third in 3:49.30.
Ye recorded a time of 4:30.84, the world’s best this year in the women’s individual medley, to finish ahead of Zhou Min and Zhang Chenyao.
