Junior paddlers dominate worlds
CHINA'S youngsters gave notice that the country's dominance of table tennis is unlikely to be challenged any time soon when they swept the team titles at the world junior championships in Colombia.
China, whose mastery of the senior game is a cause of great concern even to Chinese officials, has won all but one of the 14 world junior team titles since 2003 - the exception being Japan's boys' title in 2005. The girls' team was most impressive in Cartagena de Indias on Saturday with Wu Yang, Cao Lisi and Chen Meng crushing Japan 3-0 to defend its title. Boys' No. 1 seeds Fang Bo, Yan An and Lin Gaoyuan had a harder time but still beat Germany 3-0 to retain their crown.
