Paddler Ma playing 'like an old monk'

CHINA'S three-time Olympic table tennis champion Ma Lin risks missing out on this year's world team championships unless he sorts out his personal life, according to national team coach Liu Guoliang.
The 30-year-old, who has been involved in a protracted divorce with actress Zhang Yi since last October, was knocked out in the first round of the Chinese trials for May's world team championships in Moscow on Wednesday. "Ma looked like an old Taoist monk from Mount Wudang at the trials," said Liu, referring to Hubei Province monastery. "He is so slow that he looks like he's from a completely different era to his opponent."
