GERMAN legend Steffi Graf, a 22-time grand slam singles winner, has been named the promotional ambassador for the 2016 WTA Elite Trophy, which will be held in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, on November 1-6.
The tournament, with a total prize money of US$2.21 million, will feature some of the world’s top-20 ranked singles players and top-12 ranked doubles pairs, providing 700 WTA ranking points to the singles champion. China’s retired two-time grand slam winner Li Na, who won the French and the Australian Opens, was the promotional ambassador for the tournament’s inaugural edition last year. American Venus Williams defeated Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic to win the 2015 title. The tournament will be held in the southern Chinese city until 2019.
