Bartoli Takes On Li In Monterrey Final

MARION Bartoli of France reached her second final of the year when she beat Zheng Jie 7-5, 6-3 at the Monterrey Open in Monterrey, Mexico, on Saturday.

In the final of the new hardcourt event, second-seeded Bartoli will face another Chinese, unseeded Li Na.

Li took care of sixth-seeded Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-3 in their semifinal.

After a back-and-forth first set in which Bartoli needed four breaks to win it against Zheng, the Frenchwoman settled in the second set and claimed the only break.

The victory advanced her to her ninth career final. Since her third and last WTA Tour title in 2006, Bartoli has lost all four of her finals, including 2007 Wimbledon and last January in Brisbane, Australia.

Bartoli and Li will meet for the first time.

Li, the former top-20 player coming back from a right knee injury, is into her first final in 14 months.
