Bencic pulls out

EIGHTH-RANKED Belinda Bencic of Switzerland has pulled out of the French Open after dealing with a back injury since March. Bencic’s withdrawal was announced by the claycourt grand slam tournament yesterday. She will be replaced in the main draw by Lauren Davis of the United States. Bencic has not won a match since beating, coincidentally, Davis at Indian Wells, California, two months ago. The draw for the French Open is on Friday. Play begins at Roland Garros on Sunday.
