THE ATP has announced that Turkey will host its first-ever tour event, the Istanbul Open, in 2015.
The claycourt event will take place from April 27-May 3, a week before the Madrid Open. It will be held at the Koza World of Sports, billed as the largest tennis academy in the world, with 63 indoor and outdoor courts. Turkey’s addition to the ATP Tour schedule means there will be 62 tournaments in 32 countries in 2015. Istanbul previously hosted the WTA’s season-ending championships from 2011-2013.
