Li Na Bounces Back
CHINA'S Li Na has found a unique way to rebound from a few early losses: bungee jumping.
After some unexpected losses in Auckland and Sydney earlier this month, Li bounced back to an easy 6-2, 6-0 win over Marina Erakovic of New Zealand yesterday.
Asked how she had improved herself ahead of the Australian Open, she answered: "After bungee jump I'm feeling much better."
She tried the extreme sport for the first time after the Auckland tournament.
Li said she was nervous ahead of yesterday's match and had to psych herself up for play.
"I just walk out on the court and I saw all the fans was for her," she said. "So I was a little bit nervous. At the match beginning I just tell myself, 'Don't play three sets.'"
Li took the 16th seeding in the tournament because Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium - 16th in the world rankings - was suspended for violating a World Anti-Doping Agency "whereabouts rule".
