China’s Li Jiayun held it together in windy conditions to card a 2-under 70 yesterday to take a commanding three-shot lead after the opening round of the Sanya Hills Ladies Classic in southern Hainan Province.
Playing in the final regular season event of the China LPGA Tour before next month’s season-ending Hyundai China Ladies Open, Li, a 24-year-old from Guangzhou, fired three birdies against a lone bogey over the hilly Dragon Valley Golf Course to finish as the only player under par. China veteran Yan Panpan was in a group of six players three off the pace.
