Radwanska replaces Halep as world No. 3
AGNIESZKA Radwanska is up to third place in the WTA world rankings moving ahead of Simona Halep, who lost points after failing to defend her title in Dubai.
The Romanian was upset in the last 16 in the Emirates as she continues to struggle for form this year. Serena Williams, who did not play in Dubai due to injury, remains well ahead atop the rankings with Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber, who is playing in Qatar this week, her closest rival. Meanwhile, David Ferrer’s failure to reach the final of the Rio de Janeiro Open has seen his world ranking fall two places. Both Kei Nishikori and Tomas Berdych moved ahead of the Spaniard in the top 10 with Ferrer down to eighth. Novak Djokovic, who resumes his season in Dubai this week, is still comfortably ahead in top spot.
