'Rocket' pulls out of Shanghai Masters
DEFENDING champion Ronnie O'Sullivan is giving next week's Shanghai Masters 2010 a miss, according to portal sina.com.
The website initially claimed that O'Sullivan was pulling out due to back injury, but later quoted his manager in China as saying that he was withdrawing due to "family matters". "He said sorry ... it was due to family affairs," Meng Xianzun said. However, the local organizers of the annual snooker event, due to start from Monday, told Shanghai Daily yesterday that they had no information about O'Sullivan's withdrawal. O'Sullivan beat China's Liang Wenbo 10-5 in the final of the Shanghai Masters last year.
