Serbia’s Danilovic jumps 82 spots in WTA rankings
Serbian teen Olga Danilovic jumped 75 places in the latest WTA rankings released yesterday on the strength of her win on Sunday in Moscow.
The 17-year-old saw off Russian home hope Anastasia Potapova 7-5, 6-7 (1), 6-4 for her maiden title at the Moscow River Cup to jump from 187th to 112th behind an unchanged top 10 led by Simona Halep, Carolina Wozniacki and Sloane Stephens. Meanwhile, John Isner joined elite company when he saved four of five break points en route to beating compatriot Ryan Harrison 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 to win the Atlanta Open for the fifth time on Sunday. Top seed Isner became the fifth American man to win the same event at least five times after Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi. It was the 14th career title for Isner, 33, who lost a marathon semifinal 24-26 in the fifth set against South African Kevin Anderson at Wimbledon a fortnight ago.
