Serena eyes 鈥榦utrageous鈥 Australian Open return

Serena Williams aims to defend her Australian Open title next year, the American saying the rapid return to action would only give her around three months to prepare after giving birth to her first child.
The 23-time grand slam winner announced her pregnancy in April and will be on maternity leave for the rest of the year. The 35-year-old is engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. 鈥淚t鈥檚 the most outrageous plan,鈥 she told Vogue magazine. 鈥淚 just want to put that out there. That鈥檚, like, three months after I give birth. I鈥檓 not walking anything back, but I鈥檓 just saying it鈥檚 pretty intense. If I lose and I lose again, it鈥檚 like, 鈥榮he鈥檚 done鈥. Especially since I鈥檓 not 20 years old. I鈥檒l tell you this much: I won鈥檛 win less. Either I win, or I don鈥檛 play.鈥 Williams is one grand slam shy of Margaret Court鈥檚 long-standing record of 24 major titles.
