EXPECT spectacular pyrotechnics when 6,000 fireworks are set off at Jinshan City Beach on two evenings, ensuring that this year's 2012 Shanghai Jinshan International Fireworks Festival goes with a bang.
Spectators will have a panoramic view of the fire flowers blazing under seemingly boundless sky and sea. And adding to the visual delight, the whole thing will be reflected on the water, creating a stunning mirror effect.
Chinese and Belgian fireworks teams will get things under way with displays on the theme of their cultures. A highlight of "Chinese Style" should be a kaleidoscopic show of color-changing, while the Belgians will use music and fireworks to present a display on the themes of chocolate, waffles, beer and cute Smurfs - expect plenty of blue fireworks!
The evening of November 3 features performances by Portuguese and American fireworks teams on the themes of "Marine Creatures in Mythology" and "Broadway," respectively. The Portuguese tale of monsters of the deep has won many golden awards in international fireworks competitions, while the American team aims to bring a flavor of hit Broadway shows, using fireworks and music to capture the atmosphere of New York's Theater District.
