Celebrities soak up the spotlight

THE glitzy 12-day festival on the palm-lined Cote d’Azur is a who’s-who of the international film world and its red carpet is one of the most watched, with stars ranging from China’s Zhang Ziyi to France’s Audrey Tautou mounting its famous steps.
Only two American films — “The Homesman” by Tommy Lee Jones and “Foxcatcher” by “Capote” director Bennett Miller — have been entered in competition for the Palme d’Or this year while no Chinese film entered the competition line up. Chinese director Zhang Yimou’s new film “Coming Home” was selected for noncompetition screenings.
