Immersive exhibit invites us to take a walk on the art side
EXPERIENCE a unique exhibition of light and botanicals at “WALK ARTISTRY,” curated by South Korean artist Jeongmoon Choi and Chinese artist Lee Chi from Taiwan.
The installation advocates the simple joy of “walking,” especially with our bustling, fast-paced lives today.
Choi uses light, line and color to construct an elaborate assembly of art. In a completely darkened room with UV-like threads, viewers are ushered into an immersive environment. The play on vision and perception allows you to see a different composition with every step.
The Korean-born, Germany-based artist is known for creating installations with dichotomies, such as juxtapositions of contrasting light and darkness, line and space, and digital and analogue.
Lee’s botanical art installation captures the refreshing sensation of running. Integrating shapes of flowers and plants into his architectural creations, Lee’s three-dimensional sculptures explore the relationship between humans and nature.
With only elements of nature used, the three sculptures let viewers find a space full of leisure and fresh air in the concrete jungle of Shanghai.
WALK ARTISTRY, which runs until April 29, is organized by Spanish shoe brand Camper. To visit, head to Camper’s WeChat account for an entrance password.
