Jinshan strawberries beckon

IT may be the dead of winter, but luscious strawberries straight from the greenhouse are ripe and ready for visitors to the Jinshan Strawberry Festival, which runs through March 3.
City dwellers can brave the cold and escape the crowds to enjoy country air, fun on the farm and stay with farmers, overnight if they wish.
Activities include strawberry photo competition and a blind date party. For those who are more serious, there's a strawberry industrial development seminar and talk on strawberry growing history.
Strawberries are available over six and a half months in two prime periods, one from mid-November to early March, the other from early April to early June. Prices range from 20 yuan (US$3.20) to 40 yuan per 500g.
Date: through March 3, 10am-5pm
