AUSPICIOUS jade ornaments are always the preferred choice of gifts for the upcoming Chinese New Year. Wearing jade is traditionally believed to help improve health, counteract evil forces and ensure peace.
There are many famous Chinese sayings about jade, such as "gold has value while jade is invaluable," and "the gentleman's body does not leave the jade."
However, few young people nowadays are willing to wear jade jewelry, mainly because of the ever-changing designs and shades available.
Hong Kong jade jewelry manufacturer Jade Link recently launched its new collection which reinterprets the lucky stone with interesting designs. The "city fantasy" collection, designed specially for young women, features a series of trendy pieces made of top quality jade, diamonds and 18 karat gold.
Its "jade bag pendant fantasia" comes in both black and white, featuring a cute, handbag-shaped jade trimmed with clusters of little diamonds.
The "green jade pendant fantasia" is more traditionally colored and features an asymmetrical design, in the center of which is inlaid a diamond. Also available in black and white, the "jade hoop pendant fantasia" is designed in a round shape, auspiciously "perfect" in Chinese belief.
For couples getting married in the upcoming "Year of the Ox," jewelry retailer ENZO introduced its latest collection of meaningful engagement rings and wedding bands at a recent event at City Plaza.
Models displayed the "ENZO 88" diamond ring collection inspired by the numeral "8" believed by Chinese people as a lucky number because it can be pronounced to mean "fortune" and "get rich."
Designers at ENZO have widely used inlaid on rings the horizontal figure "8," which becomes the symbol of "infinity."
