Shanghai inspired handbags

TWO limited-edition handbags were created in the name of Shanghai by Italian fashion houses Gucci and Bottega Veneta.

The "Shanghai Dragon" bag, with only 200 available, is a restyled version of Gucci's popular GG Boston Bag. It features white GG coated canvas, a bold red stripe and the Gucci logo stamped in Guccio Gucci's original script.

As a nod to China's ancient culture and iconic symbolism, Gucci's Creative Director Frida Giannini has also added two swirling red dragons on one side of the bag. Priced at 7,490 yuan (US$1,096), it is sold exclusively in the new Shanghai store at Golden Eagle Mall on Shaanxi Road N.

The "Shanghai Duette" bag by Bottega Veneta is a more delicate work of art handcrafted of fine quality ostrich leather with a distinctive copper metallic finish.

The clean, refined silhouette features two-side pockets and a single handle, shaping the soft, unstructured bag while creating roomy, easily accessible compartments. It also features the brand's iconic woven patterns in ostrich leather and antique copper-toned hardware.

A mix of opulence and ease, the "Shanghai Duette" is available in a limited edition of 50 at 50,000 yuan. Each handbag is numbered, with the place and occasion inscribed, on a sterling plate on its interior. It is sold at select Bottega Veneta stores in China and Asia Pacific.
