Swiss Week
SWISS Week gets under way on Thursday on Yandang Road in downtown Huangpu District.
Supported by the Huangpu District government and the Swiss Consulate General in Shanghai, the four-day event, featuring Swiss culture, tourism, food and lifestyle, aims to open a window on Switzerland to the Shanghai public.
In addition to authentic Swiss chocolate, cheese, candies and wine, the event also showcases high-quality household appliances, including knives and air and water purifying devices.
Other Swiss manufacturers expected to take part include the makers of watches, textiles, cosmetics, handicrafts, jewelry, textiles and accessories.
The Swiss Chamber of Commerce and the Swiss Club are running a cafe, where visitors can try Swiss specialities in a Swiss-style environment.
One of the highlights of the event is sure to be Swiss famous soloist Alexandre Jous, who will perform traditional Swiss music by the alphorn - a long horn made of wood.
Swiss classic children's films will also be screened to celebrate International Children's Day.
