Everything from knick-knacks to new outfits
THE Shaanxi Road S. and Yongjia Road intersection is home to a selection of boutiques and eateries, offering a wide range of merchandise, styles and genres. There are several art galleries and many fashion boutiques, as well as children's clothes shops, plus knick-knack treasure troves and bohemian cafes, making this section of Shaanxi Road S. a popular and eclectic shopping destination. In keeping with the general atmosphere of the former French concession, many of the boutiques in this area have a distinctly French feel, providing an interesting contrast to busy downtown Shanghai.
1.Muses Cafe
Muses Cafe has built a reputation on Shaanxi Road S. for its atmosphere and good coffee - but most importantly, for keeping customers happy and coming back for more. It's a simple, no-fuss 40-seat place for relaxing after work, meeting friends, having a lunch break or simply working on your computer. The cafe's extensive drink menu offers dozens of Molinari coffee concoctions, such as specially Muses coffee, Irish coffee, and Baileys coffee as well as fresh juices, smoothies and herbal teas. A glass of house wine is 38 yuan (US$ 5.9) while a bottle ranges from 128 to 265 yuan. The food menu offers salads, sandwiches, burgers, pastas and pizzas, all at reasonable prices. While the food and drink options are somewhat predictable, Muses Cafe does offer something more distinctive, and appreciated by many expats, a selection of English language literature and biographies.
