Finest, purest flavor of crab spectrum, and it’s shell-free

IF it’s hairy crabs you love then look no further than Xie Zun Yuan, which is always packed with those wanting everything crab.

The traditional way of eating hairy crab is simple: Just steam the crab and serve with dark rice vinegar and minced ginger.

Xie Zun Yuan doesn’t want its customers to have a complicated, tedious and messy experience while eating their crab dishes so the staff is on hand to deconstruct the crabs and extract the meat and roe from different parts of the crustacean, namely the crab’s claws, legs and body. The task is very time-consuming.

The hairy crabs are sourced daily from Yangcheng Lake, which has a special crab-friendly environment: clean, shallow, sun-drenched waters that promote the growth of the food that crabs like to eat.

Yangcheng Lake crab gained fame from what gourmands call “the finest and purest flavor of the entire crab spectrum.”

At Xie Zun Yuan, only the best crabs are sourced daily for each table.

The place is famous for its 888-yuan set menu price, including sautéed hairy claw meats, abdomen meats, legs, crab pastes and roes.

The set is ideal for three people to share and each person is offered a bowl of noodles or rice to mix in with the delicacies.

The set is made to highlight a crab’s original umami taste and sweetness.

If you particularly like crab roe, crab paste or the leg meat, there are several dishes to meet a customer’s tastes, priced from 188 yuan for a sautéed crab meat to sautéed crab paste at 588 yuan.

The crab noodle, at 98 yuan, and crab and shrimp wonton at 68 yuan, is a popular lunch deal choice at the restaurant.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, crab is “cold” or yin, so when eating crab, it’s best to drink warm yellow wine to balance the energy in the body. The restaurant offers their house made yellow wine that is delicious.
