Famous Hong Kong actor Chow Yun-fat praised Shanghai Chedun Film Park in Songjiang District at a press conference there promoting his forthcoming movie last Friday.
Chow was awarded the Outstanding Chinese Film Achievement Award at the opening of the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival last Saturday.
"Da Shanghai" is set in the city during the 1930s and Chow said working at Chedun was the first time he had filmed scenes in "real Shanghai."
"It's so different shooting in Chedun, compared to the English architecture in Hong Kong. Here you can see the real scenes of 1930s Shanghai. It makes the film more realistic," said Chow.
Co-starring with Chow in "Da Shanghai" is Chinese mainland actor Huang Xiaoming.
Huang said he was thrilled to work with Chow, as he had admired him greatly since he was a boy.
"When I first started out in the business, I always worea black trench coat and slicked back my hair, because that's how Chow Yun-fat looked in his classic movie "A Better Tomorrow," said Huang.
More than half of the film has been completed and it is scheduled to be released at the end of this year.
Also attending the press conference were "Da Shanghai" director Jing Wong and other stars Huang Xiaoming, Francis Ng Chun-Yu and Tong Fei.
Shanghai Chedun Film Park is also opened to tourists from 8am to 5pm.
