A signature style of color and pattern
Who is he?
Bhavin Taylor is an interior designer based in London. To start, Taylor had a career in both fashion and finance, however he found that he was not happy working in either of these industries and noticed that he had a passion for interior design.
In 2009 Taylor decided to retrain at KLC School of Design and then went on to start his own business in 2014. Bhavin Taylor Design is an award-winning design studio that creates interiors that are as individual as the owners, using his signature style of injecting color and pattern.
Please share with us some of your works, and name the one you are most proud of.
I have been lucky enough to work on projects in a few prestigious parts of London. The most favored projects are a penthouse in Gloucester Road in which the whole apartment had been transformed with a distinctive mid-century style. An apartment in Wandsworth Town, that showcased bold colors and patterns. An office renovation for a startup tech company in Marylebone where I transformed a traditional London Townhouse into a modern and vibrant work space.
However, my favorite would have to be a Penthouse in New York, as it was my first solo project that allowed me to set the tone of my business and showcase who I am as a designer.
Are you currently involved with any project?
Current projects include a major renovation of a derelict shop that is being transformed into a peaceful Pilates Studio, as well as a renovation of my home that I recently bought.
What is your design style?
My style is best described by my company motto of “Love Color. Embrace Pattern.” For me it is all about extracting the personality of the client and injecting color and pattern into their homes/workspaces that reflects their personality.
Where are you most creative?
For me creativity can come from anywhere especially travel however, most of his design ideas come to me when I am speaking to my clients whilst getting to know them and their needs.
My mind races with ideas and finds that before the consultation is over that my mind is filled with plenty of design ideas to work from and develop.
What does your home mean to you?
As with all my projects my home showcases who I am as a person and reflects my tastes, style and personality.
My home serves both a functional space to work in and a comfortable space that I can relax in and escape the busy streets of London.
Where would you like to go most in Shanghai?
I have never been to Shanghai, however, it is definitely on my list of places to visit and most of all to taste all the delicious food.
What will be the next big design trend?
I am not a big fan of trends as I believe that your environment should be as individual as you are. However, I believe that people are now embracing bolder colors and feel that this will continue to develop as a design trend going forward.
