Collection for nun’s wool utopia receives international prize

TEATUM Jones won the International Woolmark Prize for womenswear, presented at a special event as part of New York Fashion Week. The award was judged by a highly esteemed panel, including Andre Leon Talley, respected fashion author, editor and consultant, former Editor-at-Large, American Vogue; Imran Amed, founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, Business of Fashion; Tim Blanks, Editor-at-Large, Business of Fashion.

Inspired by a Wool Utopia conceived by an English nun in 1892, whereby she founded the Foxford Woollen Mills to weave luxurious woolen blankets and restore hope to an impoverished town, Jones traveled to the mill to create exclusive blankets and modernized them with geometric foil prints and hand embroideries on skirts and jackets.

The UK design duo said they are honored and excited and it’s just the beginning. They will cash to help support the development of their business and ongoing mentor support. The collection will go on sale in some of the world’s most prestigious department stores.
