St. John unveils Caviar series
BLACK is the foundation of most women's wardrobes. However, have you ever noticed that there might be slight differences between two of your black dresses, or two pairs of black trousers?
Marie Gray, founder of America's fashion label St. John, has recently found that the brand's famous black Santana knit - a combination of luxe wool and rayon famous for a beautiful, wrinkle-free fit - had a bluish cast and was difficult to distinguish from the brand's navy.
Gray knew it was time to correct it. The result is the Caviar collection, launched in Shanghai recently at a fashion show in Plaza 66, where the brand opened its new concept store.
The company has created a new process that uses less water and energy (more environmentally friendly, in other words), and produces a truer black named Caviar.
The collection includes a range of classic, elegant silhouettes in an all-black palette. From classic skirts and pants to coats and jackets, they go well with everything. Each item is an investment piece for your wardrobe.
Another renowned American fashion brand Marc Jacobs also put its new collection on the runway in the city recently.
The Louis Vuitton creative director's own label features striking neon colors, full skirts and big, exaggerated shoulders for the season. Inspired by the 1980s party scene, the collection introduces glittering party dresses with draping details. Dresses and coats in big, loose crepe silhouettes are worn with colorful stockings and high-waisted skinny pants.
Meanwhile, German leather goods manufacturer LLOYD has launched its new leather jacket collection at its Shanghai store in Jiuguang City Plaza. The collection, featuring four styles for women and two styles for men, are made of premium nappa leather in classic hues of black, chocolate and light brown. One jacket for women features a bowknot on the back, another is longer and ideal for cold weather.
