Trend blends edgy rock with classics

THE key to staying fashionable this autumn/winter is to add an edgy rock 'n' roll element to the classic feminine style. Max & Co and Liu Jo, two popular Italian fashion brands, have both illustrated the trend through their recent in-store fashion presentations.
Kammy Chung, brand manager of Max & Co in China, suggests girls look for inspiration from their boyfriends' wardrobe. "The leather biker jacket, for example, is a must-have piece this season," she said. "Wear it with dresses made of luxurious, glimmering satin or soft, romantic printed chiffon to create a whimsical contrast."
Max & Co's new collection, inspired by the 1960s style, features a number of pieces made in A-line silhouette, including dresses and coats made of wool, alpaca and mohair in bright yellow and red, as well as tunics, bomber jackets and vests. Delicate details include ruffles, draping, flounces and plisse works.
At Liu Jo, slightly over-sized coats and jackets with padded shoulders, constructed waistcoats and body-con jumpsuits are the star items of the season. They are matched with printed chiffon tops, brightly colored dresses and bling bling accessories from handbags to leather belts.
There is also a collection designed for the winter party season, featuring sexy mini dresses made of embellished silk and satin, adorned with laces and sequins.
