DJI denies sackings

Shenzhen-based drone manufacturer DJI yesterday rejected social media reports it had laid off half its workers.

Several Chinese social media platforms posted DJI had banned the sacked workers from its offices.

鈥淭hey are ridiculous rumors. We are working on key projects and going to bring a surprise to global consumers,鈥 Xie Tiandi, DJI鈥檚 public relations director, said on his official Weibo account, implying the release of new drone models.

DJI is also offering drones and technology to fight the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide. It has so far offered drones to 40 public organizations in the United States to help prevent the virus from spreading, Xie said.

Volunteers in Shanghai have organized services for local communities using DJI drones, including disinfection.
