Changchun - Ice and Snow fest full of chilly fun
The Changchun Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival opened on Thursday in Changchun, Jilin Province in northeast China. Over 100,000 cubic meters of snow is used for sculptures in the city’s Jingyuetan Park. More than 60 different ice and snow activities for tourists and free skiing training courses are being held, as well as professional skiing competitions.
The festival runs through February 14. Special activities will be held on traditional Chinese festivals such as Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival. Temperatures in Changchun can fall as low as around -40 degrees Celsius.
