New Year Art Show

Gallery Shanghai is holding an exhibition with the horse as the theme. All the oil artwork, traditional Chinese paintings, calligraphy, sculptures and installation art are about the horse to mark 2014 as the Year of the Horse. The images of horses embody the wishes of artists for a prosperous and successful New Year.

Mozart Cafe

The cafe features authentic Viennese cuisine and beverages. Visitors will be surprised to discover how roomy the interior is after stepping past the two small tables outside, through the small door.

Liuli China Museum

The museum has a sophisticated yet elegant exterior design constructed with glass. It not only exhibits the protected antique glassware of ancient China but also displays the creative works from all eras, all around the world. Shanghai artists Qiu Jia and Chen Li (Kebeya) will present an installation exhibition in Xintiandi to welcome the Year of Horse. The two artists combine the traditional zodiac form of horse with their imaginations. During the exhibition, traditional folk performances like the lion dance and Kunqu Opera will be presented in Xintiandi. “Crafty” people can also come during the Lantern Festival for events featuring snack-making, paper-cutting and couplet-writing.

CITIC Square presents a New Year art festival featuring public art installations, a DIY horse toy workshop and a photography exhibition. A total of 20 artistic horse statues designed by avant-garde artists from around the country are displayed on the plaza of CITIC Square. The exhibition, entitled “Hold Your Horses,” is a joint project with APPortfolio, Asia’s leading international young artist platform. The artists will also host a horse toy workshop for kids to teach them how to make their own toy ponies.

Egghead Bagels
