Shandong an export leader
SHANDONG Province is a major agricultural province in China. The province is the biggest provincial pavilion of the show this year with more than 500 square meters.
It ranks first in terms of agricultural product exports with annual volumes reaching US$9.77 billion last year. These account for 25 percent of the country's total.
Main agricultural export products include aquatic and marine products, vegetables, meat products, fruits and peanuts to major markets such as Japan, European Union, the USA, South Korea and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Shandong is an important producing area for grain, cotton and oil as well as a production base for water products, fruits, animal products and vegetables in China.
In 2008, the output of grain, vegetables, fruits and meat products in Shandong reached 42.605 million tons, 86.35 million tons, 13.959 million tons, 6.603 milliontons respectively.
