Shopping centers boast wide variety of activities

SPRING is the time of year for renewal. It’s full of energy and inspiration. It’s also a time when many activities are held around the city. Shanghai’s grand shopping malls even get in on the act by offering a variety of events including an art exhibition, a chance to adopt a plant, a Lego adventure for children and more.

Shanghai Daily recommends four shopping malls holding special events for a limited time. Don’t miss out as there’s much more to do besides shopping and eating at these malls.

Claude Monet exhibition

This exhibition features 52 works by impressionists, including 40 by French master Claude Monet. Drop by the K11 Shopping and Art Center on Huaihai Road on or before June 15 to see why Monet is regarded as one of Western world’s most influential artists of the past 150 years.

The exhibition is a part of the celebration marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France. The 12 other pieces on exhibit were owned by Monet. His glasses, tobacco pipe and pallet are also on display.

Some of Monet’s famous masterpieces like “Wisteria” and works from his “Water Lilies” series are on display.

There are even some caricatures he created duringhis teen years.

All the exhibited works and items are on loan from Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris.

Easter festival

Easter may be officially over, but it’s still going at Anting Life Hub until Sunday.

Sculptor Zhou Beili has been invited to decorate the shopping mall with a variety of Easter eggs both big and small. Most of the eggs hang in the air although there are 30 rather large specimens on the floor. The sculptor has also created a lovely rabbit that may just remind some of Peter Cottontail.
