Uniform services provider will open Guangzhou plant
Cintas, a leading US uniform services provider, recently announced it will expand in the Chinese market by launching a plant in Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong Province.
Cintas’ Guangzhou plant will mark the start of the company’s business operations in southern China, with its existing Tianjin and Suzhou plants catering to the northern and eastern regions.
Unlike mature markets such as in North America and Europe, a package of uniform services was not at first fully appreciated by local factory owners. As a result, Cintas did not expect immediate success when opening its Suzhou plant back in 2009.
Company executives realized it would take a while for its services to be recognized in China. However, the potential of the world’s second-largest economy is immense based on the sheer size of its population and the growing manufacturing sector.
Since Cintas was first established in the US some 85 years ago, the company has achieved great market share due to its expertise in supplying and tailoring uniform services for factories and companies in various business sectors.
Cintas currently divides the China market into industrial, food processing, protective apparel, and controlled environments. The company hopes to introduce more products and services to China.
Uniform services, Cintas’ key business unit, contain specific and tailored products for different consumers, for uniform rental and direct purchase.
Cintas is a publicly held company traded over the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol CTAS, and is a component of the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index.
By the end of 2014, Fortune magazine had named Cintas as one of the “Most-Admired Companies in America” for the 14th straight year.
Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, Cintas operates more than 430 facilities in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia.
