Fun venues for the young and young at heart
Children’s Day is around the corner. In honor of this celebration of youth, why not take your child somewhere special? Shanghai Daily’s Wang Xinzhou introduces three of the city’s best kid-friendly destinations.
Teddy Bears Museum
This lovely museum is located in the former Shanghai World Expo Park and contains numerous varieties of teddy bears from all over the world. Visitors can take photos with these cuddly collectables, or even make a teddy bear gas well as a theater featuring regular performances from a teddy bear band.
There’s a children’s play area decorated like a forest and featuring slides, swings, tree houses and blocks. The tree-inspired slide is wide enough to carry several youngsters at the same time.
Near the exit is a teddy restaurant, where you can have a meal with big teddy bears by your side. Of course, there are plenty of bear-shaped treats, including pizzas and desserts, which are sure to bring smiles to children of all ages.
Roller skating
If your child loves sports, take him or her to the Gulugulu Roller Skating Training Center. The center provides professional roller-skating lessons for children over three years old. Kids with little or no experience can also join in the fun.
Classes are held indoors.
One-on-one instruction from patient trainers is available to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable, safe time.
For more advanced skaters, inline hockey classes are also available.
Kids clubhouse
If your little one loves to play and read, the Little Bugz Kids Clubhouse will be a place they’ll want to visit again and again.
Decorated in bright white and blue hues, Little Bugz features amusement facilities and a wide selection of children’s books. There’s a jungle gym covering over 500 square meters, as well as ball pits, swings, slides and blocks.
There is also an EyePlay virtual playground where children can interact with colorful graphics.
Weekly classes are available at the clubhouse. There are Lego classes every Monday, coffee Playdates every Tuesday and bilingual lessons every Sunday. There will also be a special handicraft and painting activity to celebrate the coming Children’s Day.
For parents, there’s a cafe lounge near the play area where you can relax while your child enjoys themselves.
